The 30 Richest Drummers In The World

Q: What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians? A: A drummer!

If you’ve spent enough time hanging out with people in bands, you’ve heard a million jokes like this. But as it turns out, banging on things is potentially way more lucrative than anyone could’ve realized. Celebrity Net Worth recently published a list of the 30 richest drummers in the world. And maybe it’s not surprising that Ringo Starr could buy and sell all of us several times over, or that many of the richest drummers are people who figured out ways to stop being drummers (Dave Grohl, Phil Collins). But how in the hell is Aerosmith‘s Joey Kramer worth $100 million? Check out the full head-spinning list below.

1. Ringo Starr (The Beatles, $300 million)
2. Phil Collins (Solo/Genesis, $250 million)
3. Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters, $225 million)
4. Don Henley (The Eagles, $200 million)
5. Lars Ulrich (Metallica, $175 million)
6. Charlie Watts (The Rolling Stones, $160 million)
7. Larry Mullen Jr. (U2, $150 million)
8. Roger Taylor (Queen, $105 million)

10. Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers, $90 million)
11. Travis Barker (blink-182, $85 million)
12. Stewart Copeland (The Police, $80 million)
13. Alex Van Halen (Van Halen, $75 million)
14. Nick Mason (Pink Floyd, $75 million)
15. Tommy Lee (Motley Crue, $70 million)
16. Bill Ward (Black Sabbath, $65 million)
17. Jon Fishman (Phish, $60 million)
18. Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band, $55 million)
19. Rick Allen (Def Leppard, $50 million)
20. Tre Cool (Green Day, $45 million)
21. Danny Carey (Tool, $40 million)

25. Bill Kreutzmann (The Grateful Dead, $25 million)
26. Neil Peart (Rush, $22 million)
27. Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters, $20 million)
28. ?uestlove (The Roots, $16 million)
29. Steven Adler (Guns N’ Roses, $15 million)
30. Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac, $8.5 million)

Let’s just take a minute for the fact that Steven Adler played on one and a half Guns N’ Roses albums, that he’s been generally unfamous and making the “Celebrity Rehab” rounds for the past two decades, and that he’s still worth $15 million.

Stella McCartney Honors Her Parents’ Marriage With New Perfume (Paul – Linda)

Categories: Uncategorized

Paul McCartney‘s fashion designer daughter Stella has created a new perfume in honor of his near 30-year marriage to her mother.

Photographer Linda Eastman wed the Beatles legend in 1969 and the couple enjoyed a lasting relationship until she lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998, aged 56.

Now, their daughter Stella McCartney has paid tribute to her parents’ romance by launching a new fragrance based on the Let It Be hit-maker’s nickname for his wife, L.I.L.Y., which was also her favorite flower.

She tells Harper’s Bazaar, “I’ve been hiding away from giving out information but, yes, that was my dad’s nickname for my mum, and I always knew I wanted to create a fragrance called Lily. Lily of the valley was a flower my mum loved, and it’s also one that I loved.”

“I love that it represents spring, I love the way it looks, I love everything about it. It was my wedding bouquet, and it grows in our garden now… I have huge admiration for my mum. I think that I’m keeping alive some of the things she believed in and elaborating on that.”

Although Linda passed away nearly 15 years ago, Stella insists she still struggles with her mother’s death every day.

Fighting back tears, she added, “I’m not good with death, I’m not going to pretend I am… (It was) definitely the most difficult thing in the world I’ve ever had to encounter. It’s with me every day, the thought of how one deals with all of the repercussions.”

“I’m aware that it’s part of everything I do, in a good and bad way.”

New Documentary About The 50 Years Of The Rolling Stones

Categories: Uncategorized

A documentary with newly released historic footage will trace The Rolling Stones‘ 50-year journey from teenagers to rock icons, publicists for the band said Thursday.

The film, titled “Crossfire Hurricane” — from a lyric in “Jumping Jack Flash” — is due for release in some British cinemas in October.

The documentary includes footage showing the band’s first road trips and the chaos of early tours, accompanied by commentaries from Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor.

“This is not an academic history lesson,” director Brett Morgen said in a statement. Instead, the film invites the audience to experience “the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock ‘n’ roll royalty,” he said.

The documentary also will be shown later this year on HBO and the BBC.

The Stones, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, have so far kept their plans secret. On Thursday, a publicist for the band denied reports that it will play four shows in London and New York in November.

The reports followed rumors that the rockers may be releasing new material after Jagger tweeted a photo of him holding a guitar inside a Paris recording studio this week.

The band first played in July 1962 at The Marquee Club in London.

Jim Carrey’s Rebound

Categories: Uncategorized

I was a big fan of Jim Carrey when I was a kid. In Living Color was one of my touchstones, one of my earliest influences and it (and Kids in the Hall–hands down, Canada’s most important cultural export besides Strange Brew) was one of the first things that made me want to be a comedian. I loved Carrey on that show. Fire Marshall Bill? Please. It’s still funny today. And I loved his early movies, especially Dumb & Dumber. I was twelve when Dumb & Dumber came out. I was the target audience.

The problem Carrey has always had, despite doing solid-to-good dramatic work in movies like The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the widely unseen I Love You Phillip Morris, is that 1) people just don’t cotton to Dramatic Jim Carrey and 2) his audience has remained twelve years old. Carrey’s humor was always rooted in the juvenile, but eventually you have to figure out other ways of making people laugh besides talking with your ass or else it gets sad. There’s something especially depressing about a comic doing the same joke he used fifteen years ago on an audience that wasn’t even born when he first told the joke (see also: Adam Sandler).

Carrey, no question, needs a comeback. Unless he wants to spend the rest of his life recycling Ace Ventura, he needs to find a way to redefine himself for audience. Last week we took a look at how Kevin Costner is reinventing himself for the second half of his career, and now it’s Jim Carrey’s turn. Deadline reports that he’s been approached about a small but important role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall (yes, that’s the title). Carrey is known to be a big fan of the original movie, so I’m sure on a personal level this is thrilling in a way I can’t comprehend, but professionally this is the kind of role he needs to be taking. He needs a distinctive character, very different from himself that he can use to reintroduce himself to.

Back in 1996 Carrey earned his first $20 million paycheck, for The Cable Guy. This is what fascinates me about this generation of movie stars—they all reached that pinnacle of success, commanding the biggest paychecks and the sweetest deals, only to see their influence and earnings drain away as the Movie Star died. I really don’t think any actor is worth $20 million up front, so I have zero issue with them making less these days, but I do find it interesting, watching this generation, the $20 million generation, re-strategize and prioritize their careers. I’m kind of obsessed with what they think about. Does it chap their ass to have to essentially start over in the middle of their career? It would have to, right?

Carrey has his work cut out for him in terms of a comeback. He’s not working the same kind of good will as Costner, who made some seriously beloved movies (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 4 life). He’s already taken one smart move in the right direction, though, partnering with Steve Carell for the comedy Burt Wonderstone next year. Carell isn’t a box office guarantee but people like him. Joining Kick-Ass 2 would be another smart one, giving him some much-needed cool cred with younger, but not twelve year old, audiences. The inevitable Dumb & Dumber sequel, though…I don’t know. The potential is there, sure, but that’s also the kind of thing that can blow up in your face. It’s hard for aging comedians because what you think is funny and what people find funny about you changes over time.  Carrey was a very inventive comic performer, once upon a time; he should be able to complete the career rebound. But one thing Carrey could definitely do to improve his image is ditch the ludicrously pretentious website.

Courtney Stodden Offered To Do Porn (Just Turned 18) Big Surprise

Categories: Uncategorized

Courtney Stodden turned 18-years-old yesterday and now hasbeen flooded with nothing but porn offers. Shocking – I think not.. She was given four offers to do porn because she has based her entire career off of teasing men with her over developed body. Real? Who knows.

She became famous for being the “teen bride” who married Doug Hutchison when she was only 16-years-old and he, 50. Since, she has used herself to create this over sex crazed image.

Now that she’s legal, people have been coming out of the wood work to offer her money to have sex on camera. Brazzers.com is hoping that Courtney will “showcase her talents” with male porn star Keiran Lee. Babes.com has already written a flick with Courtney in mind, titled, Happily Humping My Hubby.

This is obviously making her hubby Doug crazy, who likely didn’t think his teen bride would go from humping him to fame to humping porn stars in movies….or did he?

Of the offers, Courtney said, “I’m not gonna say yes right now…and I’m not gonna say no.”

Believe me, she will say yes when they throw the bag of money at her. This chick wants fame and she’s too stupid to get it the ‘real’ way…talent. I don’t mean Kim K body, look at me talent either….actual talent.

Doug –deal with it or leave. You’ll be gone soon anyway.

Lindsay Lohan Believes That Lifetime Should Have paid Her Crazy Marmont Bill

Categories: Uncategorized

Yesterday, we briefly discussed the latest epic Lindsay Lohan cracktastrophe, otherwise known as her life. I had pre-written the piece, and I kept having to update it with new information about her crack heist and how that rich dude (who no one knows…?) is in love with her because of magical crack beejs or whatever. I ended up tacking the story about the Cracken getting kicked out of the Marmont at the end of the post because I was so sick of discussing her – let me try to make up for that right now!

So, Lindsay was told to move her crap out of the Marmont as of August 1st, and according to TMZ, Lindsay has been banned from the hotel too. The reason? Crack shenanigans with Terry Richardson and Lady Gaga, perchance? Nope. Lindsay didn’t pay her $46,350.04 bill for her stay at the Chateau during June and July. Two months of charges included $3,145.07 for the mini-bar, $686 for cigarettes, a Chateau Candle for $100 and $1,992.07 worth of food at the Marmont’s restaurant. So, obviously, the story was (and is) that Lindsay is poor, that she is too crackie to pay her bills, that she’s a mess.

But! The Crack has crack excuses, of course. According to TMZ, Lindsay is “telling friends” that in her crack-addled mind, she believed that the producers of Lifetime’s Liz & Dick were going to pay her bill, because she was filming Liz & Dick at the time. TMZ says, “Lindsay claims producers agreed to cover her stay at L.A.’s Chateau Marmont while she filmed “Liz & Dick” earlier this summer — so she was shocked to learn there was an outstanding 5-figure bill in her name … and even more shocked when she was banned from the hotel when the bill went unpaid. We’re told Lindsay is currently trying to sort the problem out with producers — and if they refuse to pay, Lindsay will happily cover the tab.”

Believe it or not, I kind of think this is a half-decent crack excuse – film producers and studios often pay for their stars’ hotel bills, or give them a stipend to stay wherever they want. Of course, those actors are usually legit stars, not crack monsters with duck lips who will steal anything not nailed down. Which brings me to the last TMZ story – their sources close to Lifetime claim that “the production NEVER promised to foot the bill. Sources connected to Lindsay tell us … producers did give Lindsay a one-time only, $5,000 advance against her salary in late May so she could move into the hotel, but that was it. There was never even an insinuation the production company would pay her hotel bill.”

Well, Lindsay said she would take care of the bill if Lifetime won’t. But will she? Fox News Pop Tarts has a somewhat interesting summary of what’s been going down, and Fox’s source says, “Her problems are all catching up with her. And Lindsay seems to spend all the money she makes.” Yes. THIS. Of course, I still don’t think she’s going to jail or anything, but it would be interesting to know if she even had the money to pay the bill. Time for another international call girl operation, I’m assuming.

By the way, The Marmont management is PISSED that everything is so public with this Lohan situation – they issued a statement to The Mail which you can read here. Part of statement reads, “Chateau Marmont places guest privacy as a core value and upholds this privacy with paramount importance. After investigation, it appears that a private correspondence between Chateau Marmont’s general manager and Miss Lohan was leaked by a member of her entourage.” Not only did Lindsay fail to pay her bill, get banned from her favorite Crack Chateau, but SHE was the one to leak the story. Hilarious.

Michael Keaton To Replace Hugh Laurie In ‘Robocop” Remake

Categories: Uncategorized

Michael Keaton has replaced Hugh Laurie in the Robocop remake after the Brit dropped out of negotiations earlier this month.

The House star was slated to play the evil boss of Omnicorp, the company which creates Robocop, in the reboot of the hit 1987 sci-fi classic. Laurie decided to end talks with studio bosses last week and Keaton has signed on to step into his shoes.

Announcing the casting news on Wednesday, director Jose Padilha says, “Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film, and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life.”

Joel Kinnaman will play the title character, Alex Murphy – a cop who is saved from death and turned into a robotic police officer.

Are Jennie Garth & Luke Perry In Love?

Categories: Uncategorized

Jennie has been leaning on Luke in the aftermath of her divorce from Peter Facinelli, according to a new report. Could the former ‘Beverly Hills, 90210′ co-stars be in the beginning of a romance?

After Jennie Garth‘s 11-year marriage to Peter Facinelli ended when he left her, she found support in a surprising place: her former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Luke Perry!

Jennie, 40, tells In Touch magazine that Luke, 45, has helped her navigate life post-divorce. “Luke has been one of my friends who I can call and talk about stuff and has been through something himself,” she tells the magazine. Luke went through a divorce of his own in 2003.

The two, who famously played lovers Kelly Taylor and Dylan McKay on the hit ’90s show, are working professionally again in a new Old Navy commercial and a new TV show that they are co-producing. Jennie tells the magazine, “Luke’s one of my best friends. It’s really great to do something together.”

Luke’s enjoying being in Jennie’s world, too. “I love spending time with her,” he tells the magazine. Could all this time spent together spark a romantic relationship between the two? We’d love to see Jennie and Dylan together in real life!
