Roseanne Nearing Deal For NBC Comedy With Possible Series Order

Categories: Uncategorized

roseanneRoseanne Barr is working on another TV comeback, this time with a big NBC deal.

According to Deadline, Roseanne and NBC are near a deal for a new sitcom that would receive a straight-to-series 10 episode order with the popular 10/90 model. The deal, which is similar to what FX gave Charlie Sheen for “Anger Management,” allows the network to test out the sitcom with the first 10 episodes. Should they prove a hit, 90 more will be ordered through a syndication deal.

Roseanne’s latest comeback attempt is a collaboration with “Nurse Jackie” co-creator Linda Wallem, The Hollywood Reporter also reported. Roseanne previously attempted a sitcom comeback co-starring opposite John Goodman in the “Downwardly Mobile” pilot for the 2012-2013 TV season.

FX recently ordered two sitcoms, one with George Lopez headlining and the other with Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer, following the 10/90 model.

Sheen’s sitcom on FX started off strong in the ratings. The series premiere had more than 5 million viewers. Now in its second season, some “Anger Management” episodes have fallen below 1 million viewers.

John Mulaney’s NBC Comedy Pilot Eyes Series Pickup At Fox With Script Order

Categories: Uncategorized

short2The untitled John Mulaney/Lorne Michaels multi-camera comedy pilot, which missed the cut at NBC last month, has found a new life at Fox. I’ve learned that Fox has ordered a script, described as a quick pass at the script by Mulaney that got a pilot order at NBC. If the network likes the new version, the project will receive a six-episode series order. I hear Fox brass are big fans of Mulaney and were interested in the project with some script and potential cast adjustments. I hear star Mulaney and co-star Martin Short and set to continue, with the future of the other cast members unclear. The cast of project, a young ensemble comedy based loosely on Mulaney’s life, includes Saturday Night Live‘s Mulaney and Nasim Pedrad as well as comedy veterans Short and Elliot Gould.

The pilot, from Universal TV and 3 Arts, was in contention for a series order at NBC but ultimately got a pass. Universal TV is becoming a major comedy series supplier for Fox. The network already has two half-hour series from the NBC-affiliated studio on the fall schedule, returning comedy The Mindy Project, which was also originally developed for NBC, and another vehicle toplined by an SNL alum, the Andy Samberg starrer Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which Fox landed in a bidding war last summer. Mulaney wrote the script and is executive producing the project with Andy Ackerman, who directed the NBC pilot and is staying on as director, Michaels, Andrew Singer, Dave Becky and David Miner.

Eminem Admits Prescription Drug Addiction Almost Killed Him: ‘My Bottom Was Gonna Be Death’

Categories: Uncategorized

drugsEminem has opened up about his addiction to prescription drugs, admitting in a new documentary that the pills he once popped in excess almost killed him.

“People tried to tell me that I had a problem,” the rapper said in “How to Make Money Selling Drugs,” a film described as “an indictment on the war on drugs” by the Los Angeles Times. “I would say ‘Get that f***king person outta here. I’m not out there shooting heroin. I’m not f***king out there putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack.”

Instead, Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, explained to filmmaker Matthew Cooke that it was prescription drugs like Xanax and Valium that proved life-threatening.

“My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything,” he said of the time when he was hospitalized after a night of excessive pill-popping. “They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death.”

Battling his addiction was difficult, admitted the 40-year-old performer, who relapsed after his hospitalization — but he stressed in the documentary that it wasn’t impossible.

“I just couldn’t believe that anybody could be naturally happy or naturally function or be just enjoying life in general without being on something,” he said, adding that his sense of responsibility to his children helped him kick the habit. “So I would say to anybody, ‘It does get better.'”

This isn’t the first time that Eminem has spoken candidly about his drug addiction. In 2009, he told Vibe magazine that “it’s no secret I had a drug problem.” That same year, he told XXL Magazine that it took him so long to recover because he “didn’t really think [he] had a problem.”

As notes, “How to Make Money Selling Drugs,” which hit theaters this week, was produced by “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier and features interviews with several celebrities including Susan Sarandon, 50 Cent and Woody Harrelson.

Where’s The Beard? Minister Brother Joins ‘Duck Dynasty’ Cast

Categories: Uncategorized

alanDuck Dynasty will have a brand new cast member when it returns in August, but he’ll be missing one of the trademark images of the hit reality series. He won’t have a beard!

Alan Robertson, the oldest of kay and Phil Robertson‘s four sons, and a preacher by profession, has decided to bring his ministry to his family’s 10 million weekly viewers.

His usual gig is at the White Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, Louisiana, where it is not unusual to have 1,500 followers — including his family — listening to his Sunday sermons.

“The beards are so iconic,” Alan told The New York Post.

“All this time I’ve been flying under the radar. I can go to Starbucks and get Mama coffee. That is about to change.

“What I do for our church-you see, it’s a pretty good-sized church-impacts a lot of people, but because of my association with the show, I’ll get to minister to a lot more people,” Alan said.

Duck Dynasty begins its fourth season on A & E August 14.

Lindsay Lohan To Face Lawsuit After She Gets Out Of Rehab

Categories: Uncategorized

lindsayLindsay Lohan will be served papers in her ongoing legal battle with her former fashion collaborators after she completes her court-ordered rehab treatment later this summer.

Earlier this year, the actress filed a $1.1 million lawsuit against D.N.A.M. Apparel Industries, claiming she was cheated out of her share of profits when a 2009 business deal fell apart.

The clothing manufacturers countersued for breach of contract and fraud, blaming Lohan’s “drug-addled image” and legal problems for making it impossible to sell her 6126 Collection to retailers.

According to, D.N.A.M. execs have agreed to wait until she is out of rehab in mid-August “in a gesture of good faith and so as not to disturb her healing process.”

Lohan began her three-month rehab stint on May 3 by checking into Betty Ford Clinic. She was later transferred to Cliffside clinic in Malibu.

Jodi Arias Inspires New Music From Bee Gee Barry Gibb

Categories: Uncategorized

gibJodi Arias has a handful of fans and millions of what she likes to call “haters,” and now unexpectedly, she has one of the world’s most famous musicians using her as his muse.

Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees is working on new music inspired by Arias’ trial and conviction for the first degree murder of her boyfriend Travis Alexander.

“What I am writing at the moment is a track about the Jodi Arias trial in America,” Gibb told the London Telegraph. “The girl has been found guilty and is facing the death penalty. There will be at least one track about that – it has really struck me.”

Gibb didn’t say what what about the Arias case most struck him, but death is something he is sadly very familiar with.

His younger brother Robin died 13 months ago after a long battle with cancer and Robin’s twin, Maurice, died in 20013 following a heart attack. Youngest brother and teen idol, Andy Gibb, died 25 years ago when he was just 30.

Arias remains in prison pending a retrial on the death penalty sentencing aspect of her conviction.

Alec Baldwin Apologizes For Using Gay Slurs, Writes Letter To GLAAD

Categories: Uncategorized

baldAlec Baldwin has apologized for a Twitter tirade in which he targeted a reporter and used gay slurs.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail published an article accusing the actor’s wife Hilaria of posting on Twitter in the midst of James Gandolfini’s funeral. Baldwin denied his wife had been tweeting from the church and slammed the reporter, George Stark, calling him a “toxic little queen” and a “lying little b**ch.”

Baldwin also threatened: “I am gonna f**k you up… I want all of my followers and beyond to straighten out this f**king little b**ch.”

He added, “My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends funeral. Now, f*** this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth.”

Twenty minutes later he said he fired his publicist, and shortly after he deleted his twitter account.

Now it appears the actor is owning up to his words. In response to the incident, Baldwin issued a public apology and released a letter to gay rights group GLAAD.

He said, “My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone’s sexual orientation… As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize…

“I would not advocate violence against someone for being gay and I hope that my friends at GLAAD and the gay community understand that my attack on Mr. Stark in no way was the result of homophobia.”

In addition, Baldwin explained to “The idea of me calling this guy a ‘queen’ and that being something that people thought is homophobic…a queen to me has a different meaning. It’s somebody who’s just above. It doesn’t have any necessarily sexual connotations.

“To me a queen… I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny, and I know gay men that act queeny. It doesn’t have to be a definite sexual connotation, or a homophobic connotation. To me those are people who think the rules don’t apply to them.”

‘Bridesmaids’ Sequel A No-Go, Says Kristen Wiig: ‘It Wasn’t A Hard Decision’

Categories: Uncategorized

SAG NominationsAnyone holding on to lingering hopes for a “Bridesmaids” sequel will have to find another tree to climb. After much speculation and even a glimmer of hope from director Paul Feig, Kristen Wiig has again squashed any chances for a redo.

Wiig reveals in a new Harper’s Bazaar profile that she and “Bridesmaids” co-writer Annie Mumolo were offered the opportunity to make a sequel — a verdict that, according to the former “SNL” star, was made immediately.

“It wasn’t a hard decision,” Wiig told the magazine. “We knew during the first one, this was it. We would have made a lot of money if there was a second one, but that’s not my goal in my creative life.”

Feig had previous hinted at interest in an update on the 2011 original, telling Movieline after the film’s release that he’d “be very open to it.” He’s since said “it really does fall to Kristen” because “that’s her baby” — which is a good thing, considering Universal was at one point reportedly considering moving forward with a sequel sans Wiig.

It’s no surprise that sequel talk has met “Bridesmaids,” as the comedy became a runaway hit both commercially and critically, raking in nearly $300 million at the box office and spawning a new round of discussions regarding the progress seen by women in film.

Still, neither Feig nor Wiig will take much of a hit by not developing a sequel, as both have coveted projects on the way. Wiig will play Annette Benning’s daughter in the upcoming summer comedy “Girl Most Likely,” and two of her many other projects this year include “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” and portraying Bill Hader’s twin in “The Skeleton Twins.” Feig’s latest comedy, “The Heat,” is currently in theaters, and his most recently announced project, “The Better Woman,” is in the development stage.
