James Franco Film Fires Author Of Controversial ‘Working With Him Is Payment Enough’ Casting Call

Categories: Uncategorized

francoA casting call sent out for a new James Franco film promising low pay but a chance to work with the127 Hours actor had dire consequences for the man who wrote it because he was fired from the project, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

“For those wanting to work with James, that in itself can be considered great currency,” the casting call read, following a line that the movie is on a low budget.

“He is a fantastic director and quite loyal to his actors!! This story is both deep and rich!”

According to an insider, Franco’s team was furious when the casting call letter got out and his attorneys immediately contacted the man who wrote the casting call to tell him he would no longer be with the project.

“Understandably James’ camp was really upset that the casting call made it sound like he had a huge ego or something. That wasn’t the guy’s intention in writing it, but that’s how it came across,” the source told Radar.

“The truth is that the whole project is being done on a low budget and all the leads and cast and crew are being paid lower than they would be on a major blockbuster. But the people choosing to work on the project are doing it for the love of their art, not for the money.”

James, 35, is directing and starring in a new film based on the William Faulkner book, The Sound and the Fury.

“These small budget projects are done all the time, but the guy who wrote the casting call just should have picked his words more wisely,” the source said.

“It wasn’t good PR for James, or his movie!”

Kurt Russell Offered ‘Fast 7’ Role Initially Pegged For Denzel Washington

Categories: Uncategorized

kurtThe “Fast and Furious” franchise might have gotten a little more Stuntman Mike. According to Variety, Kurt Russell is negotiating with Universal to star in “Fast Seven,” where he would play an undisclosed role that the studio initially pegged for Denzel Washington. (As Deadline.com reported on Aug. 1, Washington had turned down the role.)

Little else is known about Russell’s involvement, but it’s expected that the part would carry over to the eighth film in the series — something that would mimic what Universal did with Jason Statham’s “Fast and Furious Six” cameo. (Statham is set up as the villain in “Fast Seven.”)

Russell is an action veteran, having starred in “Escape From New York,” “Big Trouble in Little China,” “Tango and Cash,” “Tombstone” and “Executive Decision,” among other films. He also played the aforementioned Stuntman Mike in Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof,” a section of the Tarantino-Robert Rodriguez “Grindhouse” experiment in 2007. “Death Proof” focused on a stunt man who used his indestructible car to murder innocent women.

More on Russell’s “Fast and Furious 7” negotiations can be found at Variety. James Wan will direct the film, which is set for release next summer.

Lamar Odom Arrested For DUI

Categories: Uncategorized

Lamar OdomLamar Odom’s problems just got much worse.

The drug-troubled 33-year-old NBA player — who has been dealing with addiction issues and a troubled marriage with his reality television star wife Khloe Kardashian — was busted in the early morning hours of Aug. 30 for allegedly driving under the influence, RadarOnline.com has confirmed.

He was released from jail at 8:33 am after posting the 15,000 bail and is expected back in court on September 27.

He is still behind bars where he is being held on $15,000 bail.

The two-time NBA championship player was pulled over on the 101 Freeway when he was spotted driving under the speed limit, we’ve learned.

Lamar drove three exits before the cops were finally able to get him to stop; law enforcement saw signs that Lamar was intoxicated.

Lamar allegedly refused to take chemical tests.

As Radar first reported, Lamar is said to be suffering from an addiction to OxyContin and Ambien.

UPDATE:

Lamar Odom’s DUI arrest early Friday morning ended with him making what cops exclusively told RadarOnline.com is the one thing no one should ever do – he refused the chemical tests.

Leland Tang, the California Highway Patrol public information officer, described the erratic driving that led up to Lamar being pulled over on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles at 3 am to RadarOnline.com.

“Lamar Odom was driving 50 mph on the 101 freeway. He was driving in a serpentine manner which is pretty bad. That is like when the officer does a freeway break. Across all the lanes of the freeway. I’m surprised he wasn’t rear ended.”

After “failing to perform” when given field sobriety tests, Lamar was taken into custody and Tang said “He did what no one should ever do, he refused the chemical tests.

“That means that his license is revoked and Lamar could get the most powerful attorney in the world and he is still not going to have a license for a year.”

Lamar has been dealing with addiction issues and a troubled marriage with his reality television star wife Khloe Kardashian.

As Radar first reported, Lamar is said to be suffering from an addiction to OxyContin and Ambien.

Tang told RadarOnline.com that Lamar’s car was being “stored” until he comes to pick it up.

Justin Timberlake Said He Wants To Play The Riddler

Categories: Uncategorized

justinNo riddle here. In an interview with Fresh 102.7 morning show hosts Jim Douglas and Kim Birk, Justin Timberlake said that he would love to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie — assuming there is another standalone Batman movie, and that film includes room for The Riddler.

“I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero,” Timberlake said, before adding that he would play a villain. “I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything, because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler. The Riddler is my favorite villain.”

After batting away some typical radio host banter, Timberlake expanded on why he wanted that particular role. “The Riddler was like a sociopath. He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I’m want to play proper crazy,” he said.

All of this came up because Douglas asked Timberlake about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman. Timberlake and Affleck worked together on the upcoming film “Runner Runner,” and the 32-year-old singer and performer said that Affleck was more than up for the Batman challenge. Those words were echoed by many other stars, including Matt Damon, Michael Keaton and Kyle Chandler.

Affleck is set to star as Batman in the sequel to “Man of Steel,” but he’s not directing the film: that job falls on Zack Snyder.

Lindsay Lohan Asked To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season Opener

Categories: Uncategorized

lindsayWill the sixth time be a charm? Lindsay Lohan’s post-rehab appearance as the host of Chelsea Lately was such a resounding success that RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that she has been asked to host the season opener of Saturday Night Live.

The troubled 27-year-old has cleaned up her image and reputation following her 90-day court-ordered rehab and a source close to her confirmed the news about her next potential gig.

Saturday Night Live has approached Lindsay to host the show again, and they were talking about the season opener,” a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com.

“She is definitely considering doing it,” the source said. “She loves the show and the people involved.”

Lindsay has hosted the hit NBC show five times, and the last time, in 2012, she was panned for her erratic performance just months before entering her three month rehab stint.

However, the source said things are different for her now.

“Lindsay is doing really, really well. She is going to business meetings and she’s been on time for every single one of them. This is the best I’ve seen her in years.”

Can anyone say ratings? That’s the only reason Lorne would ask her back. People will tune in to watch her fail. Her last appearance was a disaster…she was horrible.

CBS Buys Single-Dad Comedy From Fred Savage, Matt Dearborn

Categories: Uncategorized

Maserati Kicks Off Golden Globe Weekend With A Special Performance By The Pussycat DollsThe comedy project, “Raised by Wolves,” will center on a 20-something guy who suddenly becomes a full-time dad to his 7-year-old daughter and has his buddies help him raise her.

The network has made a script deal for a comedy called Raised by Wolves. The half-hour effort will revolve around a 20-something guy who suddenly becomes a full-time dad to his 7-year-old daughter. As the title suggests, his buddies will band together to help him raise her.

The project is being produced by CBS TV Studios, where Wolves‘ executive producer Fred Savage signed an overall deal when he launched his production company in late 2011. Matt Dearborn (Even Stevens) and Racelle Rosett (Blossom) will co-write and executive produce.

The news comes mere days after Disney XD announced it had greenlighted a pilot, Neckpee Island, from Dearborn and his Even Stevens and Zeke and Luther writer-producer Tom Burkhard. It’ll center on OB, a 14-year-old troublemaker who is sent by his dad to the small remote island of Neckpee where he joins the Neckpee High Flag Corps.

For Savage’s part, the former Wonder Years star has managed to successfully transition behind the camera, where his work as a TV director has earned him the most attention. Among his small-screen credits: Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls and NBC’s short-lived Best Friends Forever, for which he was an executive producer as well. Earlier in his helming days, Savage directed a few episodes of Dearborn’s Stevens. In March, Savage was tapped to direct the Charlize Theron comedy film Ladies Night.

Telluride: Jason Reitman’s ‘Labor Day’ Debut

Categories: Uncategorized

retmanThe Telluride Film Festival’s first big official movie was the Thursday afternoon patron’s screening of Jason Reitman’s Labor Day. Reitman has previously debuted his films Juno and Up In The Air at Telluride and gives this latest a contemporary spin with a completely faithful adaptation of Joyce Maynard’s novel. (She is here, too). It’s about an escaped con (Josh Brolin) who invades the life of a single mom (Kate Winslet) and her 14-year old son (Gattlin Griffith).

Not only is it a complete departure for Reitman but he delivers with style and fine performances from his leads. Paramount plans to open it limited in late December and then go wide in January. But it was a no-brainer to bring a movie called Labor Day to this Labor Day gathering of cinephiles. As Reitman said to laughter, “I know this is going to be a very tricky transition for you. You are going to have to somehow step out of this beautiful town on Labor Day weekend and walk into this beautiful town on Labor Day Weekend.” He thanked Paramount and Indian Paintbrush for supporting him as a filmmaker. “This is probably the truest adaptation I will ever write. I wanted to make the movie that reflected my experience of reading the book Labor Day for the first time. It’s a movie about inexplicable decisions and the unusual – sometimes rare – trust it takes to heal. It’s a love story.” I’d say it’s a romantic drama that harkens back to the great tradition of Hollywood tearjerkers and reminded me of a combination of The Bridges Of Madison County, Shane, and a 1940s style melodrama that might have starred Robert Mitchum and Jennifer Jones.
